First year PhD student, Matt Govendir from the Biro research group (Cell Motility and Mechanobiology) took home the prize – a gift voucher and a bottle of bubbly  - of best thesis presentation. Matt’s research project is on visualising the migration of T cells through the body, and understand how T cells survey and interact with the tumour environment.
This is the first time SEAMS(Student of EMBL Australia for single Molecule Science) has organised their own 3-minute thesis competition. The purpose of this event was to hear about the different PhD projects at SMS, for students to hone their communication skills, and another way for the students to support each other.
There were 12 participants who judged each other, and the rules were: No visual aids and a strict three minute restriction. The winner was determined by majority vote.
Congratulations Matt!
