Awards for Exemplary SMS Citizens

Till and Rokiah win Arc awards

Last night, at their annual awards evening, Arc – the UNSW student association – honoured extraordinary supervisors and research students, including Associate Professor Till Böcking and Ms Rokiah Alford both from Single Molecule Science (SMS).

Till – head of the Molecular Machines research group – was nominated for a Supervisor Award to recognise his dedication to guiding and advising research students. He has previously received this award in 2012, and in 2013, was awarded an Outstanding Supervisor Award given to the top few student-nominated supervisors of that year.

Masters by Research student, Rokiah – from the Molecular Motors group led by Dr Lawrence Lee – was recognised as a student who helps “to create a lively research environment and supportive social atmosphere” for their fellow students.

A supportive environment is very important, and often underpins the success of students and researchers at all stages. These awards created by the Postgraduate Council of UNSW Sydney celebrate the commitment of individuals from all faculties who promote this positive environment.
